Since acquiring the business, senior management have made accessibility a top priority, and have gone to great lengths to ensure that Polurrian on the Lizard is a holiday destination that is truly inclusive and accessible for all. We are extremely proud that, despite the challenges presented by such a vast, historic property, development works have successfully been completed and we are now a fully accessible hotel and are compliant with the strict ‘Changing Places Toilets’ (CPT) guidelines.
There is a fully accessible, disabled bathroom located on the ground floor that is now ‘Changing Places Toilets’ compliant. This offers people with limited mobility the chance to come in and use the facilities with ease and with peace of mind that the facility is fully equipped, spacious and specifically designed to meet their needs. The toilet has been specially developed to be available for use for guests and visitors alike, and management are proud to be able to offer this service to holidaymakers and the local people of Mullion.
There are two purpose-built lifts both between the bar area (which is on the same level as the main entrance) and the Vista lounge, and a newly installed lift between the 1st and 2nd floors, making every room and communal space accessible by all.
We have ample parking, with several spaces very close to the reception area which is on the same level.
There are 8 ground floor bedrooms, and 1 with an accessible wet room.
The restaurant is accessible, and the Vista Lounge can be accessed using the lift, via from the bar area. Staff are trained to verbally explain the menu for partially sighted guests. Menus are being redesigned to include brail printing. Staff are to be given basic sign language training.
The health club is currently situated on the 1st floor with limited accessibility. The new Health Club being constructed for the 2024 season will be fully accessible.
The function rooms are fully accessible
Gardens, Outdoor Areas and Beach:
Most of the garden is currently accessible via the path or lawn, and the outdoor terrace is accessible.
There are new outdoor facilities being added for the 2024 season, including an outdoor wedding space, bar and dining area, all of which are accessible. New lighting will be installed in all outdoor areas, which will help partially sighted guests. The path that leads from the reception area down to Polurrian Cove is to be re-laid in tarmac, which will allow easy vehicular and disabled access to the beach. A new lifeguard hut and toilet block is to be constructed on the beach, which will make the cove more accessible by the disabled and elderly.
