We were delighted to visit Helston College today, where two of our brilliant team members, Georgia Rance and Poppy Eley, spent time with students sharing their career journeys and experiences here at the Polurrian.
Meeting young people who are exploring careers in hospitality is always a privilege for us. Georgia and Poppy spoke openly about their own paths, the opportunities they’ve had, and what it’s really like to work in a fast-paced, people-focused industry. From weddings and events to front-of-house and guest services, they offered valuable insight into the wide range of roles that make a hotel like the Polurrian tick.
Meet Georgia
Georgia Rance, our award-winning Wedding and Events Manager, has been an invaluable part of the Polurrian team for the past three years. During that time, she has transformed our events offering, helping to shape memorable experiences for both hotel guests and the local community. Georgia leads our thriving weddings department, which continues to grow year after year thanks to her creativity, dedication and attention to detail. Her passion for delivering exceptional events was clear as she spoke to students about building a career in hospitality.
Meet Poppy
Poppy Eley is one of our brightest rising stars in the Food & Beverage team. She began her journey with us as an apprentice and was recently shortlisted as a finalist for Cornwall Apprentice of the Year — a fantastic achievement that reflects her talent and commitment. Since then, Poppy has continued to develop her skills, training in Reception where she is now a confident and capable team member. She has also supported our Events department, stepping in to cover for Georgia for a full month and proving her flexibility, professionalism and strong work ethic.
We’re incredibly proud of Georgia and Poppy for representing the Polurrian so brilliantly and for inspiring the next generation of hospitality professionals. Days like this remind us how important it is to nurture talent, share knowledge and show just how rewarding a career in our industry can be.
