Keeping it local benefits all of us…
You will notice that often when we mention our wonderful, constantly evolving menu for the Polurrian restaurant, we refer to the ‘locally sourced’ ingredients that we strive to use for almost all of our dishes.
The reasons for using local suppliers are many. First and foremost, we are situated in the heart of Cornwall...we would be mad to look elsewhere for anything! The Polurrian on the Lizard is surrounded by suppliers of world beating produce including meat, dairy, fish and seafood, ice cream, beer, gin, even rum to name a few! The high standards for food and drink that our chefs (and diners) expect can only be maintained by selecting the best Cornish suppliers, and one of the reasons many of our guests make the trip down to Cornwall is to sample the famous Cornish produce. This reason alone would be enough to keep us buying local, but the fact that we can build strong relationships with our suppliers (as they are only down the road!) and we can put friendly faces to names, means that the quality of service and product always remains at the highest level.
If you consider the environmental benefits of using locally based food and drink suppliers as well, and the fact that many businesses are feeling the pinch in current times, we are certainly proud to say that we buy locally. Feedback from our guests tell us that you can taste the difference too!
Some of our suppliers are listed below, and we highly suggest you check them out and give their produce a try. Please keep looking at our seasonal menus and get your taste buds ready for your next visit…
